You’ve probably seen many different ways to build your website quickly using WordPress, ecommerce solutions, StudioPress, and other platforms that either build off of WordPress or their own platform like Shopify or Squarespace, and Wix. You can use those platforms. Each have great featuers. But, did you know there’s an easier way? Through this post, you’ll learn how to build your website using WordPress quickly using the Divi theme. I’m Gabby and I’ve built websites for clients and work with an agency since 2006. Since that time, I’ve used just about every platform for my own sites or client sites.
If you’re like most beginners to building a website, you want something that is fast and easy to use. You definitely don’t want to learn code or get confused in the process. That’s what makes Shopify, Squarespace and other easy-to-use platforms so popular. But the downside of using those platforms is they have reoccurring monthly fees. And while you want your website to be profitable, in the first few months of your startup, you may need to learn the ropes before you can get it there. So what could you invest in instead that is easy and affordable? Divi!
What is Divi?
Divi is a premium WordPress theme that also has an easy-to-use front end builder. It’s basically click-and-add without the bulky slowness of other website builders (if anyone’s experienced Visual Builders minutes too long spin mode… you know what I mean!). Plus, Divi has a great back end editor if you’re more experienced in building websites. Once you get used to it, you can FLY through building your websites.
And what makes it super awesome is that you can save page layouts to reuse on any new pages you create. That means you can reuse any page design without having to re-create from scratch all over again! It makes it super easy to create new pages, especially landing pages for new products and services, and even blog posts! They also have affordable child themes and layouts (a lot of them are even free!).
Elegant Themes created Divi in 2013 and have improved upon the theme year after year. They have an affordable yearly license and a lifetime license that won’t break the bank. If, after checking out my video and post about using Divi to build your website quickly, you decide to purchase Divi through my link, I earn a commission for that sale. I would appreciate it!
Now that you have a better idea of what Divi is, let’s dive into what a front end builder is and how it works through using Divi.
What Is a Front End Builder?
A front end builder is a visual builder you can use to see and work on the page of your website. For instance, if you go to the page on your website, you can edit it while you’re looking at the page. Not from the backend where WordPress is located, but from the front end where you see the images and content on the page. Cool, huh?
Why Use Divi’s Front End Visual Builder
There’s several reasons! One is that Divi is a good price! It’s affordable. It’s also available for a lifetime license so you pay once and do not have to pay subscription fees after that.
Another reason is that it is super easy to use! I’ve used other visual builders before but found them to be bulky and frustrating to use. Divi does have a learning curve, but I’ve found it to be very intuitive compared to other visual builders.
A third reason is that it doesn’t slow down your site. With other visual builders, I’ve found myself stuck in “spin mode” more than once. It can be aggravating when trying to get a page done quickly. But, I’ve always found Divi to work fast and it hasn’t slowed down my site. I’ve tested it using a variety of page audit software to double-check the page speeds. The majority of things that slow down my site are images, not the page builder.
Another reason is that Divi has child themes and layouts. These are already designed pages you can use on your site. All you have to do is add your own images and content. You can save $$$$ on a designer and just load in a child theme or layout as your base design.
How It Works
I’ve created a video for you to see how Divi works. In the video, I’m working on a new website I created called Art Healing Garden. I started the website off by adding a feminine child theme called Sally. I’ve used the Sally theme on other sites I own and it works great and looks beautiful! Watch the video below as I go through how to edit the page using Divi’s front end visual builder.
